Premier League Lacrosse Goes Back to College for 2024 Throwback Weekend – SportsLogos.Net News
Premier League Lacrosse is once again throwing it back this weekend, but with a distinctly collegiate feel this year.
PLL unveiled the logos and uniforms for its 2024 Throwback Weekend on Wedenesday, July 17, which will be used in games this Friday and Saturday at Rafferty Stadium in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The throwback logos released Wednesday depict cartoon mascots, many of which are smiling, that are reminiscent of the mascots in many universities’ athletic identities.
Many of the porthole mesh jerseys, made by Champion, feature large block letters or wordmarks on the front, adding to the collegiate feel.
PLL first started holding Throwback Weekends in 2022. In 2023, the throwback designs were inspired by the 1990s.
Ahead of the 2024 season, PLL added locations to their club names in an attempt to “unlock deeper, more connected relationships between our fans, teams and players.” The league did, however, keep its touring model in which teams gather in one city on each of 10 regular season weekends: once in each home location and in two neutral sites. Teams play doubleheaders in their own home location.
Playoff quarterfinals will be held on September 2 in Boston, with semifinals on September 7 in Long Island, New York. The 2024 PLL championship final will be on September 15 in Philadelphia.
