With Euro 2024 and Copa América over, preparations for the new domestic seasons are in full swing for European soccer clubs. And that means more kits being unveiled in time to wear for preseason friendlies (not as many as the more than two dozen we had last week, but still a lot). Here are the kit launches from around Europe’s top leagues over the past few days:
MANCHESTER CITY – Third
Defending Premier League champions Manchester City capture their spirit of always moving forward in their 2024-25 third kits, made by Puma. The kit is predominantly burgundy with an all-over tonal print of the sails from the club crest enlarged and connected by lines. The crest on the left chest and other sponsor logos are rendered in metallic gold.
MANCHESTER UNITED – Away
Meanwhile, City’s crosstown rivals Manchester United celebrate the city they call home with their 2024-25 away kit, made by Adidas. The navy blue kit features an embossed pattern of diagonal Ms (for Manchester) all over the front, back and sleeves. A textural element in the royal blue side panels is “applied as a series of repeated circular patterns … an homage to the 3D monograms frequently seen on Manchester United kits from 30 years ago.” Logos on the jerseys are metallic silver, including the Adidas shoulder stripes and the devil isolated from United’s crest on the back collar.
LEICESTER CITY – Away
Premier League side Leicester City are going with a bold new look for their 2024-25 away kits, made by Adidas. The kit is mostly black, but the front and back panels have an orange and pink spray paint effect at their edges. The collar, side panels and raglan sleeves are solid black, with dark grey Adidas stripes on the shoulders. Sponsor logos and the club crest are rendered in white.
BRENTFORD FC – Away and Third
Premier League side Brentford are giving their fans a lot of wardrobe options with their 2024-25 away and third kits, made by Umbro. For the first time in club history, Brentford’s away kit uses light pink as a base, with sponsor logos, the club crest and narrow stripes in the sleeve cuffs in purple. The third kit, meanwhile, is predominantly dark green with a tonal pattern on the raglan sleeves inspired by the architecture at their home ground, Gtech Community Stadium. The club crest and other accents are rendered in yellow.
As they’ve done in recent years, Brentford will carry forward its home kit from 2023-24 into the 2024-25 season.
🇮🇹 ATALANTA BC – Home and Away
Defending UEFA Europa League champions step into the new season in style with their 2024-25 home and away kits made by Joma. The home kit features Atalanta’s traditional blue and black vertical stripes, though the blue stripes do have very narrow black pinstripes within them. The blue and black stripes get turned 90 degrees to run across the chest of the white away kit, which also features a circular crest with a yellow outline. The collar and sleeve cuffs are also blue and black, and black panels appear under the arms.
🇩🇪 WERDER BREMEN – Third
German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen hope to evoke the feeling of their home ground, the Weserstadion, under the floodlights with its 2024-25 third kit, made by Hummel. The kit is predominantly black, with bright accents and side panels that fade from cyan to magenta and reflect “the vibrant diversity of life in Bremen and in particular the Viertel district, where people embody the spirit of ‘be who you are,’” the club says on its website. “It’s a place where every weekend strangers become friends, and the Weserstadion is no different.” The embossed chevron pattern on the jersey is an element Hummel is including on all its club jerseys this season.
🇩🇪 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT – Third
Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt crank up the volume for its 2024-25 third kit, made by Nike. The German side has opted for a bright orange base color — the first time they’ve used orange in four decades — anchored by solid black sleeve cuffs and crew neck collar. Narrow darker orange stripes run down the front of the shirt. The club crest is rendered in black and white.
🇩🇪 FC AUGSBURG – Away
Elsewhere in Germany, FC Augsburg are hoping to bring a bit of home with them on the road in their 2024-25 away kits, made by Mizuno. The shirt is mostly a shade of green “that fits Augsburg’s status as a historic city built on water,” according to the club. A map of Augsburg is embossed on the front of the shirt, and the coordinates of their home ground, the WWK Arena, are printed inside the collar. Both the collar and the sleeve cuffs have red, green and white stripes.
🇪🇸 REAL VALLADOLID – Away
Spanish La Liga side Real Valladolid celebrates the two clubs that came together to form the club as it’s known today with their 2024-25 away kit, made by Kappa. The base of the kit is “antique white” and features red and blue running across the front at different angles, intersecting at certain points. The red lines represent Real Unión Deportiva de Valladolid while the blue lines are for Club Deportivo Español; the two clubs merged on June 20, 1928, to form Real Valladolid. The club crest on the left chest is holographic, appearing red, blue or anywhere in between depending on how light hits it. The V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs are red on the right side of the jersey and blue on the left side, and the Kappa logo on the chest fades from red to blue.
