It’s for real this time: Rainforest Cafe is coming to the Empire State Building. The beloved jungle-themed restaurant is hosting a pop-up at the skyscraper’s 86th-floor observatory from October 3 through 6, offering exclusive Rainforest Cafe and Empire State Building merchandise, along with special food items for fans of the iconic eatery.

In a post on April Fools’ Day, the Empire State Building announced Rainforest Cafe would be coming to its observatory. Although it was a ruse, the idea of the restaurant opening atop New York City’s most famous building sparked excitement among thousands of fans.

“After massive interest and quick reactions from fans online, we are pleased to announce a limited-time pop-up with Rainforest Cafe on the iconic 86th Floor Observatory,” the Empire State Building said.

Earlier this week, TikTok videos featuring Cha! Cha! the tree frog, Rainforest Cafe’s mascot, began circulating, hinting at the restaurant’s possible arrival in the five boroughs, as reported by Eater New York.

First opened by Queens native Steven Schussler in 1994 at Minneapolis’ Mall of America, Rainforest Cafe is famous for its jungle-themed decor, featuring animatronic animals, cascading waterfalls, thunder effects, and immersive rainforest aesthetics.

The brand, owned by Landry’s, currently has 23 locations, with two in the Tri-State region, according to the Post.

You can reserve a spot at the restaurant between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. here.
