Rangers sign Casey Fitzgerald and Bo Groulx
The New York Rangers signed forward Casey Fitzgerald and center Bo Groulx to two year and one year contracts, respectively, yesterday. The moves are for AHL depth, as the Hartford Wolf Pack need some reinforcements as players leave via free agency, and others get penciled into the Rangers starting lineup (perhaps Brennan Othmann?).
Fitzgerald, a 27 year old winger, was a 3rd round pick by Buffalo in 2016. He’s played 63 career NHL games, 59 with Buffalo, registering 9 assists. Groulx, 24, was a 2nd round pick by Anaheim in 2018. Interestingly enough, he served as Anaheim’s 13F last season, playing in 45 games and registering 2 assists.
Neither Fitzgerald nor Groulx are expected to be impactful players for the Blueshirts this season. Groulx may wind up being their 6C, depending how things shake out this summer, but Fitzgerald will be very far down on the depth chart.
